Miami Heat sign Derrick Williams on one-year contract

It has been reported by Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo Sports that the Miami Heat have signed former New York Knicks forward Derrick Williams on a one year contract worth around $5 million. New York were keen to keep Williams, but he opted to leave MSG to join Eric Spoelstra’s Miami Heat who have an excellent record with developing and improving young talents who have stunted in their growth.
Williams was the Knicks’ most reliable bench option for most of last season and he averaged nine points and four rebounds on 45% shooting from the field. He could be a key cog in Eric Spoelstra’s pace and space offence.
He was reportedly attracted to the Miami Heat because of the fact they improve seemingly average role players who have previously not had success, he could join the likes of Tyler Johnson and Hassan Whiteside in experiencing revivals under Pat Riley and Eric Spoelstra.
